Steps to Success

STEP 1 Information Gathering
(2 - 4 weeks)

  • Franchisee/Franchisor do due diligence in information gathering of one another.
  • Prospective franchisee completes personal, financial and application checklist.
  • Prospective franchisee receives brochure and franchise information packet.

STEP 2 Preliminary Interviews
(2 weeks)

  • Review by franchisor of materials and forms. Send Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) and receive signed copy back.
  • Phone or person to person interview will take place.

STEP 3 Interview/Approval Process
(2 - 4 weeks)

  • Prospective franchisee discusses terms and area with VP of Development.
  • Prospective franchisee meets with Executive team.
  • Development Agreement is signed.

STEP 4 Site Acceptance Process
(4 - 6 weeks)

  • Franchisee submits Site Acceptance Form.
  • Max & Erma's VP of Development visits and inspects site for review.
  • Development Department prepares preliminary site plan.
  • Max & Erma's accepts/rejects site submitted.

STEP 5 Construction Process
(20 - 28 weeks)

  • Franchisee is furnished one set of current prototype plans.
  • Target Opening Date is determined at beginning of construction. (Punch List must be completed no later than one week prior to anticipated opening date.)
  • Max & Erma's Development Team Member will visit the site upon nearing of completion of construction to inspect and provide a final punch list to be completed by franchisee.


STEP 6 Training: Management/Staff
(4 - 14 weeks ((concurrently with construction)

  • Training of Management Staff
  • Training of Associates

STEP 7 Opening of Restaurant
